A Georgia Chevron customer has gone viral after revealing the quality of gas she received after her recent Chevron trip fill up.
Filling up your car with gas is a routine chore as a car owner. Picking what gas station you fill up from will vary depending on your location, the price, and how much gas is left in the tank. Sometimes it’s purely based on convenience if the tank is low.
Some drivers may not think about the quality of gas as it’s assumed all fuel is held to the same standard. However, after a trip to a Chevron, a woman in Georgia warns that you may want to start actually paying attention to where you fill up.
In a TikTok that’s generated over 599,800 views as of this writing, Leslie Ann (@lonesomedoveles) reveals that after mechanics drained her tank completely, they found the gasoline was contaminated.
Chevron Trip Gone Wrong
In the TikTok, Leslie Ann says her recent fill up at a Georgia Chevron quickly turned into a trip to the mechanic.
“Listen y’all, I stopped at a Chevron in Georgia to put $40 of gas in my car. Not even a few minutes later my car begins acting up,” Leslie begins.
Leslie says her check engine light came on and she promptly took her car to the mechanic to figure out what’s going on.

“My car is in service and when they drained the tank, I could not believe what I was seeing,” Leslie says.
Continuing, Leslie says she was informed that the repair would be intensive. The mechanics purportedly told her that they would have to drop the tank, drain it, clean it, and reassemble it. After completing the repair, Leslie recounts that they drained the oil to find that the color was off.
“I’m just sharing this so y’all can see what exactly was in my tank,” she concludes.
People were shocked by the hue of the gas.
“I thought that was orange juice,” one person wrote.
“This happened to a friend. The gas station was sued and they ended up paying for all the repairs. Don’t let this slide,” another said.
“File an insurance claim. Send them the receipt. They'll go after the gas station,” a third suggested.
What Was In Her Tank?
One person suggested that she report the matter to the Georgia Attorney General’s Office. “They will sample the tanks,” they added.
This is exactly what Leslie did. In a follow up post, Leslie provides an update on what was in the gas.
“I officially got the report back from the Department of Agriculture Fuels Measuring Division. It clearly states the sample received did test positive for water contamination,” Leslie reports.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture's (GDA) Fuel & Measures official report stated, “Product does not meet ASTM specifications on test performed. Sample fails for water approximately 10%.”
Water contamination in the gasoline will certainly lead to problems like those Leslie experienced in her S550 Mercedes.
“This is in fact what caused my car to stall, and I am still in disbelief to this whole situation,” Leslie continues.
“Don’t worry. I’m taking all necessary steps needed to bring awareness to the community so that this doesn’t happen to anyone else,” she concludes.
“Glad you went and actually had it tested,” one TikTok commenter added.
“Love when people have receipts,” another shared.
“Thank you for the warning,” a third replied.

What Happens When There’s Water In Your Gas Tank?
“Water in your gas tank can lead to serious issues such as corrosion and damage to the fuel system, including the fuel pump and injectors,” per Fuel Logic.
Water can enter your gas tank in a variety of ways, including condensation, faulty gas caps, or when gas is contaminated with water.
Gas station’s underground storage tanks can get water in them if it seeps or condenses inside, CarParts reports.
Filling up your car with this water-contaminated gas can lead to engine problems including stalling or a rough start up.
According to CarParts, these are the signs that water is in a gas tank:
- Engine runs rough shortly after refueling,
- Vehicle stalls shortly after refueling, and/or
- The check engine light illuminates shortly after refueling
To fix this problem, it’s best to drain the gas tank to ensure all the water is out, Gold Eagle reports. By doing this, this prevents future damage throughout your car which costs can easily rack up.
